Steven Mukwala During the AFCON Qualifiers : Asante Kotoko striker Steven Mukwala Desse was called-up by the Uganda National Football Team for Match-Day Three and Match-Day Four matches of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.
The Cranes of Uganda defeated Tanzania by 1-0 on Tuesday night at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam thanks to Rogers Mato’s 90th minute strike.
Mukwala Desse was the only Kotoko player that received a national team invitation for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers during this international period of football. The Ugandan is the leading top scorer of the Porcupine Warriors this season with 10 goals in all competitions so far.
The Kotoko attacker came off the bench to replace Byaruhanga Bobosi in the 89th minute on Tuesday as head coach Michu Sredojevic and his Ugandan side attacked with more intensity and numbers in search.
Mukwala was one of the substitutes who came in to help Uganda Cranes finish the game as winners. However since the Porcupine Warriors dangerman only entered the game with a minute to full time , he could not make any moreSteven significant contribution.
This was a revenge for Uganda who were defeated in their home fixture on March 24th by the Tanzanians at the Suez Canal stadium in Egypt. In that game , Mukwala Desse was an unused substitute.
