Vincent Sowah-Odotei reveals how Slavko Matic became Hearts of Oak coach

Vincent Sowah-Odotei on Slavko Matic : Hearts of Oak board member Vincent Sowah-Odotei has revealed how Serbian trainer Slavko Matic landed the coaching role at the club.

The embattled expatriate trainer has been absent from the club’s last two league games against Asante Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars as assistant coach David Ocloo continues to lead the team.

After section of Hearts of Oak supporters and fans stopped Matic from entering the Pobiman training complex on March 4th , the board member has now sought to offer some clarifications.

“Slavko Matic was recommended to us by a Technical Director(Erik Van Der Meer). TSG Hoffenheim wanted to offer us Erik van Der Meer. He even attended our game against Asante Kotoko in Kumasi after which Coach Samuel Boadu was sacked afterwards.” , Sowah-Odotei is quoted to have told Kumasi FM.

“He said if he is going to be the Technical Director with Slavko Matic as the coach then he would love to work and so Slavko Matic was not imposed on us by TSG Hoffenheim as people are saying.

We checked Slavko Matic’s CV but we decided to give the Technical Director job to his man to work with. However the Technical Director didn’t come to stay but to familiarize with the team and unfortunately he came to meet the crisis and he left afterwards.”

Providing an update on the head coach , he said :

“We have asked Slavko Matic to stay back and then we deal with the emotional side of the issue and after that, we will know what to do.”
