World Cup Day Four Wrap : Japan defeat Germany , Spain crush Costa Rica as Belgium edge out Canada

World Cup Day Four Wrap : There were eleven goals scored during Day Four at the 2022 FIFA World Cup currently taking place in Qatar.

Group F

Morocco and Croatia drew in the first match of Wednesday November 23rd. The Group F encounter failed to produce any goals but the other group fixture between Belgium and Canada ended 1-0 for the Red Devils thanks to Michy Batshuayi’s  44th minute left-footed strike. The former Chelsea striker raced onto a long ball from center-back Toby Alderweireld to net the only goal of the encounter.

Group E

The second upset at this year’s World Cup was created by Japan who came from a goal down to defeat four-time winners of the competition Germany. Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan put the Germans ahead in the 33rd minute from the spot but Japan fought till the end. Ritsu Doan equalized in the 75th minute before Asano Takuma of Bochum scored the historic winner seven minutes from time.

Another stunner: Japan beats Germany with second-half comeback at World Cup

Having seen Germany shockingly defeated , Spain made no mistakes against Costa Rica as La Roja thought Keylor Navas and his friends a real football lesson hammering them for seven goals to nothing. The goals were scored by David Olmo , Marco Asensio , Ferran Torres (a brace) , Gavi , Carlos Soler and Alvaro Morata.

The 2010 World Cup winners thus are in charge of Group E after first round of matches.

What next on Thursday November 24th?

Switzerland – Cameroon at 10 AM GMT

Uruguay – South Korea at 13 : 00 GMT

Ghana – Portugal at 16 : 00 GMT
