“As there’re good days in the office, so are bad days. We are all humans ” – Kotoko v Hearts Assistant referee Papala speaks out amidst criticism

Assistant Referee Patrick Papala : One of the assistants referees involved in Sunday’s Ghana Premier League drawn game between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak has spoken following the Week Three match.

The officiating officials of the Super Clash that ended 1-1 at the Babayara stadium have come in for criticism from various quarters- especially those of Kotoko following their performance.

The Porcupine Warriors have since lodged a complaint with the Ghana Football Association regarding officiating of the said match.

“Have been in 4 super clash games as an Asst. referee. The only Ref. to be involved in this encounter 3 consecutive times without issues.” the first assistant referee of the match wrote on Twitter but Ghana Sports Market cannot verify whether the @PapalaPatrick1 is his official Twitter handle.

The champions of Ghana indeed should have had at least have a penalty awarded in their favour following replay footages of many of the incidents where referee Selorm Yao Bless ignored numerous Kotoko penalty calls. For instance those committed by Dennis Korsah and Caleb Amankwah against striker Steven Mukwala.

But Papala says they are not immune to mistakes as they seek to always get better as referees.

“As there’re good days in the office, so are bad days. Our game can only get better if we eschew emotions and accept we are all humans. We move!” the referee added.
