DR. Congo U23 : The Leopards of Dr. Congo were stranded in Kinshasa a few hours before the return match against Algeria on Saturday.
The return leg will now be played on Sunday in Setif.
It was unreal and completely unimaginable scene. A few hours before their return match of the second eliminatory round of the CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday the young Leopards of the DRC failed to set foot on Algerian soil.
According to footrdc.com, the DR.Cogo U23 selection of the DRC boarded an Antonov from the Air Kasaï company to reach Algeria but not everything went as planned as the plane experienced an unexpected failure in mid-flight, 3 hours after takeoff.
Fortunately, the irreparable was avoided, the plane returned to Kinshasa and landed at N’djili airport at 03:35.
The experience was total trauma for the players and all the members of the delegation.
The game was originally scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m in Setif
The DR. Congo FA according to several sources requested a 24-hour shift which was gladly accepted by CAF.
The showdown kicks off 19:00 GMT. Dr. Congo won the first leg by 4-1.
The winner of the tie meet the Black Meteors of Ghana in the final round of the qualifiers to contest for one of the seven places at stake for the tournament finals to take place in Morocco in 2023.
