Carlo Ancelotti on Barcelona Defeat : Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti believes FC Barcelona did not deserve to win Thursday night’s Copa del Rey El Clasico.
Xavi’s side won the first leg by 1-0 thanks to an own goal scored by Eder Militao who was put under pressure by Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie.
According to the Italian trainer the Blaugrana’s conservative approach meant they were not deserving winners of the encounter.
“It’s been a bit strange to see them play like this. But they have been very solid, they have a collective commitment and they have closed all the lines very well.
“Having to attack them with crosses is not the best thing to do, as I said before. And they have led us to that.” Carlo Ancelotti said after the game.
Asked if Barca deserved the win, Ancelotti replied:
“No, it’s pretty obvious. There have hardly been any occasions. I think it’s been one of our best games defensively all season.”
