Simba Hammer Horoya AC for 7-0 : Simba SC put up an ultra offensive show to annihilate champions of Guinea Horoya Athletic Club by 7-0 on Saturday during Match-Day Five of the 2022/23 CAF Champions League in Group C.

Zambia international Clatous Chama registered a hat trick as Congolese striker Jean Baleke Othos and Malian Sadio Kanoute bagged a brace each at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam which was packed to the rafters.

Chama opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a superb freekick on the edge of the Horoya box , Baleke Othos made it 2-0 in the 32nd with a rebound effort before Chama netted his second of the evening in the 36th from the spot as the home team took a strong 3-0 lead at half time.

The offensive display continued in the second half as Kanoute netted again in the 54th minute with a fine placement.

Bakele Othos made it 5-0 in the 65th before Chama completed his hat trick five minutes later.

Nothing worked for Horoya AC as they watched on and keep on picking the ball from the back of goalkeeper Mohammed Kamara’s net to restart.

Kanoute sealed the humiliation in the 87th minute as Horoyac recorded one of their worst ever performance in the continental competition.

Raja Casablanca (13 points in 5 games) and Simba (9 points in 5 matches) therefore advance from Group C to the last eight whilst Horoya and Uganda side Vipers are eliminated with a game to spare.

Thanks to his treble of goals , Chama is joint-top scorer of the 2022/23 Champions League on 4 goals alongside Al-Hilal’s Glody Makabi Lilepo.
