“We cannot afford to lose or draw against RTU on Sunday” – Kotoko acting head coach Gazale

Abdulai Gazale Has Warned RTU : Asante Kotoko acting head coach Abdulai Gazale has immediately shifted his focus towards the upcoming Week 25 Ghana Premier League home match against Real Tamale United on Sunday.

The champions of Ghana scored first against Legon Cities at the El Wak stadium on Thursday through captain Richard Boadu who converted a 15th minute penalty but Cities equalized in the 70th thanks to Alex Aso as the Week 24 clash ended 1-1.

Real Tamale United (RTU) are undefeated in their last seven matches across all competitions ; two wins and five drawn games. In that unbeaten run , the Pride of the North have defeated Samartex at home in the FA Cup and on Thursday imposed an emphatic 3-1 defeat against Accra Great Olympics.

Indeed RTU have avoided defeats against tough opposition such as Aduana FC , Berekum Chelsea , city rivals Tamale City and Medeama SC.

Following his team’s 1-1 draw at Legon Cities yesterday , Abdulai Gazale knows that Real Tamale United would be tough rivals on Sunday and said this :

“We will pick the match one by one , the next match is against RTU , we are playing at home and we cannot afford to lose that match or we cannot afford to draw again.

So we are going back to Kumasi , work hard and get the three maximum points in order to close up the gap in the league table.” , Gazale said into the microphone of Star Times after Thursday’s match at the El Wak stadium.

When he was quizzed whether Kotoko can defend their league title or not , Gazale responded as follows :

“Yes definitely , definitely because we are working hard. You know Kotoko without a trophy there is no league and the boys they know it in their mind. Once we are going back to the house we are going to work and then make sure that the rest of the games , we still have 11 matches to go.

If we are able to get at least wins out of that particular matches we are likely to come on top of the league and that is what we are going to work on.”

The assistant coach was promoted to the interim head coach position after Kotoko parted ways with Seydou Zerbo on March 27th.
