Jordan Ayew Provides Match-Winning Assist for Palace : Ghana striker Jordan Ayew made great impact for Crystal Palace in their Week 29 Premier League victory against Leicester City on Saturday after the former Marseille attacker replaced the injured Wilfried Zaha just before half time.
The Ivorian winger could not continue due to an injury and Palace manager Roy Hodgson called upon Jordan Ayew from among his players on the bench.
Leicester scored first in the 56th minute through Ricardo Pereira the Portuguese defender but an own goal by goalkeeper Daniel Iversen in the 59th restored the parity of the encounter.
Iversen was unlucky. Eberechi Eze smashed a free-kick against the crossbar but the ball hit the goalkeeper to go in for the equalizer of the home team at the Selhurst Park.
Jean-Philippe Mateta netted the winning goal in the 94th minute thanks to a brilliant Jordan Ayew assist.
After the game Crystal Palace tweeted : “Let’s take a moment to appreciate that Jordan Ayew assist by the way”.
Jordan played 68 minutes for Ghana to defeat Angola in Kumasi on March 23rd during Match-Day Three of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification series before lasting the full 90 minutes for Chris Hughton’s Black Stars in the 1-1 draw against the Palancas Negras in Luanda on March 27th.
Crystal Palace parted ways with manager Patrick Vieira following a 1-0 defeat at Brighton and Holve Albion on 15th March and veteran English trainer Hodgson is now in charge of the team of Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp.
