Joseph Aidoo Scored A Great Header Against Elche : When the nerves were getting tighter and the run of another day without winning flew over Balaídos, Joseph Aidoo delivered the match winner with a magnificent header to take Celta Vigo out of the relegation battle of the La Liga season.
That was a crucial goal from the Black Stars defender and he did not score an easy goal.
Celta started the game with more intesity than Elche. Carvalhal’s team came out looking forward, with good chances to get ahead soon, especially those that Hugo Mallo and Tapia had that Badía avoided.
However, Elche little by little began to gain ground on the Sky Blues and neutralized the initial superiority of the locals. Despite this, Celta was not able to go ahead at half-time, but Aspas ran into Badía.
Going through the changing rooms changed the dynamics little, with both pressing.
The VAR had to act, warning Díaz de Mera Escuderos of a possible penalty from Clerc on Carles Pérez.
They called him to consult, he went to see it on television but, although it is strange, he maintained his decision not to whistle for the penalty. He showed personality.
In the end the celestial goal came in the 90th minute and it was the Ghanaian who scored. A lot of effort went into Aidoo’s goal.
The former Inter Allies center-back was tightly marked in the Elche area but he still managed to dive to meet the cross from Franco Cervi on the left as goalkeeper Edgar Badia weas finally beaten.
It was what Celta needed in the last minutes. Cervi got a perfect ball and Aidoo came in like a plane to give three points to his team.
Celta are now 12th on the La Liga standings on 39 points after 31 games and this goal by Aidoo is going to be among the most memorable ones of the season for Celta Vigo.
Aidoo has now scored 4 goals in all events this season for Celta in 32 appearances. Since joining them from Genk in 2019 , the 27-year old Ghana international has become an important member of the Spanish side.
