Guinea-Bissau Shock Nigeria in Abuja : Guinea-Bissau recorded one of the famous victories of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification series with an incredible win against Nigeria in Abuja.

Mama Balde netted the only goal of the game in the 29th minute at the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja on Friday.

The victory puts the Djurtus in full control of Group A with seven points in three games as the Super Eagles go second with a point less.

Guinea-Bissau are still undefeated in the qualification tournament after defeating Sao Tome and Principe by 5-1 in Morocco on Day 1 and drawing 2-2 against Sierra Leone in Conakry.

The reverse match takes place in Bissau on March 27th.

The fixture was a rematch of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations meeting between the two national teams as Nigeria won by 2-0 with goals from Sadiq Umar and Troost-Ekong in Garoua.

The Super Eagles paraded current Serie A top scorer Victor Osimhen who has netted 21 times in Italy’s top flight league this season and Ademola Lookman of Atalanta (12 goals in Serie A this season).

Other big name players lined up by Jose Peseiro were Leicester City duo Wilfred Ndidi and attacker Kelechi Iheanacho , Alex Iwobi of Everton and FC Porto’s Zaidu.
