Joseph Addo Deserves Ghana Call-Up : Head of communications of Aduana Stars Oppong Evans believes goalkeeper Joseph Addo is currently the best player in the Ghana Premier League and deserves a Black Stars call-up for the upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifying matches against Angola.
The Black Stars take on Angola on March 23rd at the Babayara sports stadium before they travel to Luanda for the reverse fixture three days later. Ghana lead the qualification Group E with 4 points in 2 matches.
Chris Hughton is expected to announce his squad soon and Oppong Evans makes a strong case for the experienced goalkeeper.
“Ghana Black Stars will be taking on Angola in an AFCON Qualification double header and if you look at the performance of Joseph Addo in the Ghana Premier League he is definitely the best player and best goalkeeper in the country” , Oppong Evans said on Dormaa FM on Friday.
Evans continued :
“Out of the 19 games that we have contested in the league this season Addo has appeared in 14 matches and has kept 9 clean sheets. This means he has only conceded goals in five league matches and it tells you that he is on top form.
In the last seven games Aduana has not conceded a goal in the league. The last time we conceded a goal in a league match was against Karela United under bad circumstances at Anyinase.
Clearly everything shows that Addo deserves a call-up for games against Angola. Very soon the coach will be making his selection and if he will invite any home-based goalkeeper it has to be Joseph Addo and I can assure you that he is not going to add up to the numbers.
He has what it takes to bring something good to the Black Stars” the Aduana Spokesman added.
