betPawa Ghana Premier League : Asante Kotoko held at home by reviving King Faisal in outstanding Week 21 match

King Faisal Hold Asante Kotoko in Kumasi on April 5th : The betPawa Ghana Premier League match between Asante Kotoko and King Faisal on Wednesday failed to produce a winner at the Babayara sports stadium as the Kumasi Derby ended 0-0.

The Insha Allahu Side played the last 14 minutes of the game with ten players as key player Abdul Latif was sent off after receiving a second booking of the night in the 76th minute.

In the 49th minute Benjamin Bature seemed to have been brought down by Kotoko defender Mohammed Alhassan in the penalty box but referee Musey Robert was not interested.

The game was an outstanding Week 21 encounter that was finally done yesterday meaning all the 18 top-flight clubs have contested 25 matches each in the 2022/23 league season.

The Top Four remains unchanged ; Aduana FC are still the league leaders on 44 points , Bechem United at the second place with 41 points.

Medeama SC are third with 41 points as well whilst Hearts of Oak are placed 4th with their 39 points in 25 games played. The Porcupine Warriors take the 5th position with 39 points.

The draw means King Faisal , who have confirmed Ignatius Osei-Fosu as new head coach , are undefeated in their last three league outings ; 3-2 win over Karela United , 1-0 win at Accra Lions in Accra and a draw against city rivals Asante Kotoko.

“It was a difficult game. Considering I had one session with the team. And we also went down by a man down. So we had to defend and not concede. We wanted to win, trust me, we wanted to win. But it’s football.” , King Faisal coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu said after the game.

“When you look at the points build up. It’s possible we can win the League. The reality is that I’m a results oriented. I saved Dreams FC, and I’m here to save King Faisal, too.” , he added.

King Faisal are 10th on the league standings on 32 points after 25 games.

What Next?

The club of Alhaji Karim Grusah are up against Aduana FC in the quarter-final of the MTN FA Cup on 9th April at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

On the other side , Asante Kotoko will travel to Berekum to take on Berekum Chelsea on April 15th for their Week 26 fixture.
