Mahrez Scores Against Chelsea : Algeria international Riyad Mahrez was the hero for Manchester City on Thursday night as his single effort handed City an important win at Chelsea during Week 19 of the English Premier League.
The former Leicester City attacker came off the bench for Bernado Silva at the hour mark and needed just three minutes to make the difference for Pep Guardiola’s team.
The Algerian started the attack on the right with an in-field pass to Gundogan. The German then located Kevin De Bruyne who quickly found the free Jack Grealish on the left and Grealish cleverly squared the ball for the onrushing Mahrez to coolly slot home the opener.
City on 39 points in 17 games are still five points behind leaders Arsenal who have contested as many matches.
Manchester and Chelsea do battle again in the FA Cup on 8th January 2023 at the Etihad stadium.
