Mbappe Breaks Cavani’s PSG Record : Kylian Mbappe became the all-time top goal scorer for Paris Saint – Germain (PSG) following his goal against Nantes on Saturday.
PSG defeated Nantes by 4-2 in a Week 26 Ligue 1 encounter at the Parc des Princes and the 24-year old was in target.
Lionel Messi put the French champions ahead in the 12th minute and an own goal of Jaouem Hadjam made it 2-0 for PSG in the 17th.
The visitors however equalized both PSG goals in the 31st through Ludovic Blas and Ignatius Ganago in the 38th but Portugal midfielder Danilo Pereira netted at the hour mark to restore PSG’s lead.
Mbappe then put the game beyond the opponents with his stoppage time goal thanks to the service of Pembele Timothee.
It was is 201st goal for PSG and the former AS Monaco sensation needed 247 matches to hold the record which was held by Edison Cavani who did 200 goals in 301 games for the French giants.
PSG now travel to Germany for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Bayern Munich slated for Wednesday 8th March , 2023. The Bavarians won the first leg by 1-0 at the Parc des Princes.
