2022 FIFA WC : Still injured , Sadio Mane will miss Senegal’s opening matches

Mane Still Injured : According to Abdoulaye Sow the vice-president of the Senegalese Football Federation Sadio Mane will miss Senegal’s opening matches of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Bayern Munich attacker was widely reported to have forfeited the World Cup due to injury but Aliou Cisse named the reigning African footballer of the year in his final squad list for the Mundial.

Asked about it on Tuesday, Abdoulaye Sow, vice-president of the Senegalese Football Federation, was very clear:

“You have to try to overcome all of this and nothing but the strength and presence of Sadio should be able to strengthen the group dynamics.” Sow said as quoted by L’Equipe.

“But, for the rest, you have to tell the Senegalese what really happened: Sadio is injured, you have to deal with it and not whine too much. […] We will have to rely on the first games without Sadio and win without Sadio”. he added.

Senegal open their World Cup group stage account against Netherlands on November 21st before playing host nation Qatar four days later and wrap up their play against Ecuador in November 29th.
