Ashantigold vrs GFA: The 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League has been put on hold by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following a court order secured by Ashantigold SC.
The Miners were demoted to the Second Division league by the GFA Disciplinary Committee (GFA DC) after they were found guilty of match manipulation during the 2020/21 season ; in a match they won by 7-0 against Inter Allies in Obuasi on the last Matchday of the season.
After failing to get the needed redress at the GFA Appeal Committee , Ashantigold SC straight away launched a legal action against the football governing body of the country in a bid to prove their innocence.
The Obuasi-based side , whose President Dr. Kwaku Frimpong was also banned by the GFA DC for 120 months , has hit back with a court injunction against the most flagship competition of the association.
The 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League – which is three-Matchdays old – cannot continue , at least until 14th October.
