Bismark Kobi Mensah Reaction After Kotoko Draw : Bechem United came from a goal down at half time to snatch a vital point against Asante Kotoko on Sunday afternoon at the Babayara sports stadium during Week Seven of the Ghana Premier League as Augustine Okrah returned to Kumasi to score against his former side.
Peter Acquah Amidu drew first blood for the home team with a clever left-footed effort in the 9th minute. The Hunters reorganized and got the equalizer in the 54th minute inside the second half as Okrah headed home from close range and it was lanky attacker Emmanuel Avornyo who delivered a great cross from the left.
The game ended 1-1 and head coach of Bechem United spoke after the game as he answered questions from the Star Times team at pitch side.
“A bit disappointed. I think that we have been denied a very precious three points from a bad decision from the linesman , line two but at the end of the day it is part of the game “
“I think that we were a bit bad in the first 20 to 25 minutes. Our approach in the first half the first 25 minutes was bad , I think it didn’t work , we gave too many spaces. I know that their major strength is the two center-backs with the pivot players who build up from the back. But we also came with a certain purpose or approach , it didn’t work , so I quickly changed it to three-back system where we always have two players on the two center-backs , I think it worked from there , from there we took over the game. I think in the second half we came out with the same approach , tactical approach and I think we were far better team , created more chances and also denied a very precious goal “
“I don’t want to talk about the referee. I want to talk about the goal , the disallowed goal. I think it is a bad , big error from the line two.”
“I think the first half , we couldn’t control the game well because Bechem United when we can’t control the game , were are not dangerous. You saw that when we changed the system tactically and we started controlling the game , we were far better team. We also tried to combine passes together , circulate them and also use them especially with Okrah at the top , has good speed and you know he was using the speed very well.
“I think that overall , we have performed well after we changed the system , we were the better team , far better team , we created more chances. I think though it is a draw but I think looking at how the game went, we could have won the game.”
