Egypt at World Cup 2026 Match Guide: The 2026 World Cup would be the fourth appearance of the Egypt national football team in the most coveted soccer tournament on the planet.
The Pharaohs entered Africa’s football annals after becoming the first country from the continent to participate in the World Cup in 1934.
They were eliminated from the competition after just one fixture, a 4-2 loss to Hungary in Naples on May 27.
After missing the next 11 editions, Egypt returned to the global football showpiece in 1990, coincidentally in Italy again, failing to win a single match and suffering a group stage exit.
The 2018 World Cup also saw Africa’s most successful football nation eliminated after group play, losing all of their three matches to Uruguay, Russia, and Saudi Arabia.
