France National Team : The reigning world champions France have been dealt two major injury blows in their quest to defend their 2018 FIFA World Cup title in Qatar.
RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku and Real Madrid attacker Karim Benzema have been ruled out of the World Cup within five days. Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani was invited to replace Nkunku whilst Benzema’s replacement is yet to be confirmed by the French Football Federation.
Nkunku is currently is his best ever form after racking up 52 goals and 24 assists at Leipzig in the last two seasons whilst 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Benzema after a remarkable season with Real Madrid in 2021/22.
Losing both attackers to injury is definitely a huge setback for Didier Deschamps even if he still can count on the likes of Kylian Mbappe , Antoine Griezmann and co.
For the sake of the records , no team has been able to defend their World Cup title since Italy and Brazil did so 84 years and 60 years ago respectively.
France open their group stage account against Australia on November 22nd before taking on Denmark and Tunisia on November 26th and November 30th in that order.
