Heats of Oak were defeated by a goal to nil by Real Tamale United in the opening match of the 2023/2 Ghana Premier League at the Aliu Mahama sports stadium on Friday night.
The game was the first competitive match for new Hearts of Oak gaffer Martin Koopman.
The Dutch trainer named goalkeeper Richard Attah in goal , Michael Ampadu at right back , Dennis Korsah at left back whilst Kelvin Osei Asibey and Kofi Agbesimah played as the two central defenders.
In midfield were Glid Otanga, Eric Esso the skipper of the side and Martin Karikari. Congo striker Kashala Ramos , Evans Adomako and Liventius Arthur completed the starting eleven.
In the 13th minute , Adomako almost scored the first goal of the game before the host also came close to scoring five minutes later.
The league opener was without too many clear-cut chances as it ended 1-0 in favor of RTU thanks to Afriyie Owusu’s 92nd minute strike.
