Full Time : Asante Kotoko 1 Great Olympics 1 : Underfire defender Appau scores late equalizer

Kotoko Held by Olympics : Asante Kotoko needed a late equalizer from Andrews Appau to avoid a home defeat against Great Olympics during the Ghana Premier League Week 11 encounter at the Babayara sports stadium on Sunday.

The former Bofoakwa Tano center-back has come in for strong criticisms from section of the Kotoko fans and supporters in recent times. But against the Wonder Club on Sunday it was the under-fire Appau who came to the rescue of the Porcupine Warriors.

Abdul Bashiru put Olympics ahead at the start of the second half with a great goal in the 46th minute.

Olympics largely dominated play but failed to score more goals as attacker Samuel Ashie Quaye was the biggest culprit.

Appau replaced Mubarik Yussif in the 53rd minute and went ahead to score the equalizer with a flick-on header in the 90+9 minute.

The draw leaves Kotoko at the 3rd place on the league standings on 19 points in 11 games whilst Olympics are 11th with 11 points in as many games.
