Mbappe Scores Five Goals : PSG crushed Pays de Cassel by 7-0 on Monday night during a round of 16 match of the 2022/23 Coupe de France as Kylian Mbappe netted historic five goals.
The French striker registered his first career quintuplet in his first match as PSG captain from kick-off – allowing him to become the co-top scorer in the history of the Coupe de France and to get closer to Edison Cavani’s record.
Kylian Mbappé showed no mercy. Until Monday’s game , he had achieved a quadruple twice against Olympique Lyon in Ligue 1 in October 2018 and against Kazakhstan with the France team in November 2021.
Mbappé therefore fared better against Pays de Cassel. And the recent top scorer at the 2022 FIFA World Cup even displayed his frustration after missing out on a late sixth goal.
The former Mopnaco attacker has also become the first PSG player to score a quintuple in official competition and the co-top scorer in the history of the Coupe de France (29 goals) overtaking Pauleta and equaling Jean-Pierre Papin.
Something to celebrate his first match in official competition with the captain’s armband at kick-off, in the absence of Marquinhos in the starting line-up who remained on the bench.
Thanks to his achievement , Mbappé (now on 196 goals for Paris) is approaching four goals from the record of Edinson Cavani, record holder of goals (200) with PSG.
Next Sunday, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will have the opportunity to continue his momentum with the reception of Reims in the French championship.
