Niger Eliminate Cameroon from CHAN : Niger surprisingly defeated Cameroon by 1-0 on Tuesday night and thus send the Indomitable Lions packing from the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

What a night for Niger as they recorded their first ever victory at the CHAN tournament since 2011 thanks to Badamassi Ousseini’s deflected free-kick in the 69th minute.

Marcelin Mbahbi was the unlucky Cameroon player on whom the deflection occurred.

It is an incredible result for the Niger team. Despite the severe cold weather in Algeria and the torrential rains which fell on the lawn of the Miloud Hedefi stadium in Oran , they still pulled a shocker.

Despite dominating the game (70% ball possession, 18 shots, 435 passes) the Indomitable Lions lacked realism and purpose as star attraction Jerome Ngom Mbekeli failed to inspire Cameroon.

Niger will now play on January 28, 2023 in Oran against Ghana.
