Ronaldo absent from Portugal’s last friendly win before World Cup opener against Ghana

Ronaldo Misses Nigeria Friendly : Portugal recorded a big win against Nigeria on Thursday night in a final World Cup warm-up friendly match for the team of Fernando Santos but Cristiano Ronaldo was absent.

Ronaldo , currently in the media spotlight for his controversial interview about Manchester United , was not part of the Portuguese team at the Jose Alvalade stadium.

United midfielder Bruno Fernandes played a leading role as he scored a brace in the 9th and 35th minutes as The Navigators closed the first half with a commanding 2-0 lead against the Super Eagles.

Two more goals followed in the second half through Goncalo Ramos and Joao Mario in the 82nd and 84th minutes respectively.

Nottingham forward Emmanuel Dennis had a glorious opportunity to score a consolation goal from the spot for Nigeria but he missed it in the 81st minute.

Meanwhile Ghana defeated Switzerland by 2-0 with goals from Mohammed Salisu and Antoine Semenyo in their final friendly match played in Abu Dhabi before the Black Stars World Cup opener against The Selection of Portugal on November 24th.

The legendary goal scorer is however expected to be in perfect shape to feature against the Black Stars.
