Ronaldo on Retirement : Football great Cristiano Ronaldo has set out the condition that will see him end his 20-year professional football career in his wide-ranging controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
Piers Morgan posed a hypothetical scenario to Ronaldo in which Portugal and Argentina would face each other in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final with two goals scored by his perceived rival Lionel Messi for the Argentines and three from Ronaldo himself, with the winning goal being scored beyond the 90th minute.
Cristiano Ronaldo reacted as follows :
“If that happens, I’ll finish my career immediately, I promise. It’s too good a scenario… I don’t even want to think about it. It could even be the goalkeeper to score, I wouldn’t mind, if I’m world champion I’m the happiest man on the planet. If that happens, I can say that I finish my career», said the Portuguese between several laughs.
Portugal are in World Cup Group H alongside Ghana , South Korea and Uruguay.
The Manchester United attacker was missing in action when Portugal thrashed Nigeria by 4-0 in a pre-World Cup friendly on Thursday night. He is however expected to be ready for the World Cup group opener against the Black Stars on November 24th.
