Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham opened the scoring in the 35th minute , Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka and Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling added more goals in the 43rd and 45th minutes respectively as The Three Lions closed the first half with a solid 3-0 lead against football minnows Iran.

In the second half Saka realized a brace after scoring his second of the afternoon in the 62nd minute. Porto striker Mehdi Taremi pulled a goal back for Iran three minutes later.

Substitute Marcus Rashford scored just 49 seconds after coming on for England, the third-quickest goal by a substitute in World Cup history. The Manchester United winger had just replaced Bukayo Saka in the 70th minute.
