England Outclass Iran : England hammered Iran by 6-2 in their first World Cup Goup B match on Monday at the Khalifa International stadium in Al Rayyan.
Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham opened the scoring in the 35th minute , Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka and Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling added more goals in the 43rd and 45th minutes respectively as The Three Lions closed the first half with a solid 3-0 lead against football minnows Iran.
In the second half Saka realized a brace after scoring his second of the afternoon in the 62nd minute. Porto striker Mehdi Taremi pulled a goal back for Iran three minutes later.
Substitute Marcus Rashford scored just 49 seconds after coming on for England, the third-quickest goal by a substitute in World Cup history. The Manchester United winger had just replaced Bukayo Saka in the 70th minute.
Jack Grealish who came off the bench in the 70th minute as well became one of the England goal scorers with his 90th minute effort before Taremi scored his second goal of the game deep in injury time.
It was however interesting to see Harry Kane go out in the 75th minute without scoring any of the England goals.
USA take on Wales at 19 : 00 GMT to close Round 1 for Group B.
