Tactics : How Ghana could line up against Portugal on Thursday

Otto Addo Portugal Approach : The Black Stars launch their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign against Portugal on Thursday.

Otto Addo lined up his starting team in a 4-2-3-1 formation for the 2-0 friendly win against Switzerland last Thursday in Abu Dhabi. Lawrence Ati Zigi started in goal with Tariq Lamptey , Baba Rahman , Mohammed Salisu and Daniel Amartey as the back four defenders.

In midfield debutant Salis Abdul Samed of Lens and Belgium-based Elisha Owusu played with Andre Ayew ahead of them as the number ten. Hearts of Oak winger Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was positioned on the right flank with Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew on the left.

Inaki Williams was the starting striker in the 4 – 2 -1 – 3 formation.

After edging out the Swiss in such high-profile friendly Otto Addo is expected to stick to majority of the players who started the Switzerland game.

Goalkeeper Ati Zigi keeps his place. Despite the fine display of Lamptey we expect Dennis Odoi to get the nod against Portugal whilst the other defenders maintain their starting berths.

In midfield Thomas Partey should come in to partner Elisha Owusu. On the right Jordan Ayew is the most likely to start whilst his brother Andre Ayew moves to the left in order to accommodate Mohammed Kudus in the number ten role with Inaki Williams ahead.

Ghana Possible Line -Up against Portugal :

GK Lawrence Ati Zigi

Dennis Odoi , Baba Rahman , Mohammed Salisu , Daniel Amartey

Thomas Partey , Elisha Owusu

Jordan Ayew , Mohammed Kudus , Andre Ayew

Inaki Williams
