Iran National Anthem : The Iran national team players refused to sing their own national anthem before their first match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup against England.
England thrashed Iran by 6-2 on Monday with goals from Jude Bellingham , Bukayo Saka (brace) , Raheem Sterling , Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish whilst Porto attacker Mehdi Taremi bagged a brace for the team managed by Carlos Queiroz.
The World Cup is the biggest soccer competition of the world and players are proud to represent their national teams but the Iran players were in a different mood when the camera was put on their faces as their anthem belted out at the Khalifa International stadium.
It has now been speculated that the Iran players decided not to sing the anthem in apparent support for anti-government protesters back in their home country.
