Unbeaten Morocco edge out Canada to top Group F whilst setting up Round of 16 clash against Spain

Morocco Defeat Canada to win Group F

Morocco Defeat Canada : Morocco overpowered Canada with a 2-1 victory during the final matches of the World Cup Group F on Thursday as the Atlas Lions set up a Round of 16 clash against winners of the 2010 World Cup.

It is Morocco vrs Spain on December 6th at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.

Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech put the Atlas Lions ahead in the 4th minute following a goalkeeping error by Red Star Belgrade’s Borjan Milan and in the 23rd minute minute Sevilla attacker Youssef En Nesyri made it 2-0 with a superb effort.

A Nayef Aguerd own goal in the 40th minute brought the score line to 2-1 in favor of the African side.

Morocco are thus one of the undefeated national teams at the World Cup in Qatar having collected seven points from their two wins against Belgium and Canada and one drawn game against Croatia who finished second to also pick their their knockout stage ticket.

Morocco Defeat Canada as Belgium and Canada exit the competition.

Meanwhile in Group E , Japan produced a big game to defeat Spain. The Asians came from a goal down to win 2-1 with goals from Ritsu Doan and Tanaka Ao. Alvaro Morata had put the winners of the 2010 World Cup ahead in the 11th minute for his second goal of the tournament but Japan fought back to claim a great win in Al Rayyan.

Elsewhere at the Al Bayt stdium in Al Khor , Germany bowed of the World Cup with a 4-2 win over Costa Rica as Japan and Spain advance from Group E.

Japan and Croatia do battle in the Round of 16 on December 5th.

Morocco’s second World Cup knockout stage appearance

The North Africans are appearing at the knockout stage of the World Cup only the second time in their six tournaments played. The first time they advanced from the group stage was in 1986.
